As a central hub for students, staff and visitors a campus is an integral part of any higher education institution, especially for a community immersed in music and the performing arts.

AMPA has been seeking a purpose-built facility with the capacity to accommodate our future growth and foster an environment conducive to the highest level of performing arts and academic learning.

We are very excited to announce that 2 sites have now been secured to house the AMPA campus in 2017. Please refer to the below map for location details.

The main campus at the Lansdowne Hotel will facilitate performances, events and rehearsals, recording and technology activities, academic studies, research and breakout areas. Students enrolled in Dance, Music Theatre and Acting units will make use of the newly built studio and rehearsal spaces at 255 Broadway, Glebe.

The sites are within close walking distance and easily accessible by train from Central station or by frequent bus services to most areas of Sydney. The location also benefits from being close to Central Park and Victoria Park, Seymour Centre, Broadway Shopping Centre, theatres, cafes and universities.

What’s Happening with the Lansdowne Hotel?

The iconic Lansdowne Hotel will soon undergo a million dollar refurbishment to establish the new music campus for the Acaedmy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA). Plans for the building include a major refurbishment of the performance and bar area, recording and practice studios, ensemble rooms, rooftop lounge, computer lab, editing suites and various teaching spaces.

We also recognise the long history of the Lansdowne and its link with the live music scene in Sydney, and our plan is to continue offering opportunities for emerging and established artists to utilise the space as a performance venue. It will also be an amazing opportunity for AMPA students to perform and be trained in a venue that has hosted some of Australia’s greatest musicians and bands.

With this exciting project we hope that AMPA will breathe some much needed life into the Sydney music scene.
