Tamara-Anna Cislowska is one of Australia’s most renowned pianists, performing and recording in Australia and overseas to critical & public acclaim. Earning international prizes in London, Italy and Greece, and touring Japan and the USA as cultural ambassador for Australia, Tamara’s accolades include ABC Young Performer of the Year, the Freedman Fellowship, APRA AMCOS Art Music Award for ‘Performance of the Year’ (ACT) & the 2015 ARIA award for ‘Best Classical Album’ for the complete solo piano works of Peter Sculthorpe. Tamara has performed in the Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival (USA), Pierre Cardin Festival de Lacoste (France), Kurt Weill Festival (Germany), Canberra International Music Festival, Sydney & Perth Festivals, DARK MOFO, & as soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra & all major Australasian symphony orchestras with conductors such as Matthias Bamert, Edo de Waart, Asher Fisch, Johannes Fritzsch, Karina Canellakis & Alondra de la Parra. Founding member of the Mozart Piano Quartet and constantly sought-after as chamber collaborator, Tamara has played recitals in London’s Purcell Room, Amsterdam’s Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw, New York’s Frick Collection, Sydney Opera House’ Utzon Room & toured nationally and internationally with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, & CIRCA
Recent engagements include the world premiere of ‘Human Waves’ for choir & orchestra, with music by Elena Kats-Chernin & libretto by Cislowska, commissioned by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs for its Centenary Celebration in 2020; soloist performances of concerti by Gorecki, Prokofiev & Rachmaninov with the Sydney, Tasmanian, & Canberra Symphony Orchestras, as well as the world premiere of Kats-Chernin’s third piano concerto, Lebewohl, with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, & European premiere of this work with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurowski as part of the orchestra’s Vision 2020 festival at Royal Festival Hall, Southbank. With five ARIA no.1 albums, most recently ‘Into Silence’ recorded with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, & ‘Unsent Love Letters: meditations on Erik Satie’, available on Deutsche Grammophon outside Australia, Tamara’s talents extend to broadcasting, presenting ‘Duet’ for ABC Classic with guests such as Anne Sofie Mutter & Lang Lang; as Music Director for large-scale concerts; & editing for Boosey & Hawkes (Berlin).
