At AMPA, entry is built around your audition or interview. We want to hear you play, sing, compose or dance, and to understand what drives you as an artist.
Is Early Entry for you?
Early Entry is open to students currently in Year 12 anywhere in Australia who want to start an undergraduate degree at AMPA in 2027. It covers all of our bachelor courses:
- Music Theatre, Contemporary Music, Classical Music & Composition and Music Production
- Bachelor of Dance

How Early Entry Works
If you’re in Year 12 and working towards your ATAR, we’ll use your Year 11 school results to provide you with a conditional early offer for entry into your nominated course.
If you are completing a non-ATAR pathway such as a Certificate IV, an enabling program such as UniPrep or an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, or completing Year 12 in another state you are still eligibile to apply for an early offer. All Early Entry offers are conditional on you meeting all entry requirements for your preferred course.

Submit Your Application
Step 1 · Online · A few minutes
Fill in the online application form. It only takes a few minutes, and there’s nothing you need to prepare before you start. You must also lodge an application with UAC, listing your nominated AMPA course as first preference.

Talk With Admissions
Step 2 · Phone call or text · With an admissions advisor
A member of our admissions team will contact you to answer your questions, learn about your goals and book your audition or interview. They’ll explain exactly what to prepare for your chosen course.

Audition or Interview
Step 3 · On campus · Surry Hills (Music) or Alexandria (Dance)
This is your chance to show us your strengths. Our faculty will also help you choose the course and major that suits you best, and walk you through what happens next. Auditions can be submitted online if preferred.

Receive Your Offer
Step 4 · Conditional offer
Successful applicants receive a conditional offer to study at AMPA in 2027. Your place is confirmed once you meet the entry requirements and any conditions specific to your course.

Finish Year 12 and Enrol
Step 5 · Final exams · Enrolment
Complete your final year and exams, then confirm your enrolment ahead of Orientation in January 2027.
Early Entry FAQs
Is my offer guaranteed?
If your audition or interview meets the requirements for your course, you’ll receive a conditional offer. It becomes final once you complete Year 12 (or equivalent) and complete your audition.
Do I also need to apply through UAC?
Yes, applying through UAC and listing your nominated AMPA course as your first preference ensures your application follows the UAC process. Submitting your direct application to AMPA is also required and ensures that we can provide you with personal advice relating to your specific situation.
What if I miss Early Entry?
You can still apply through our standard admissions process. With three undergraduate intakes each year, there are several chances to start your creative journey.
Can I audition before my final exams?
Yes, and we recommend it. An early audition speeds up your offer and keeps your diary clear once exams begin.
I am unable to physically attend AMPA for audition. What are my options?
If you are unable to make it to AMPA in person then you can submit your audition online. Once we receive your materials, a member of the AMPA Admissions team will get in touch with you to arrange a suitable pathway to start your course. Refer to the Audition Guidelines on what to submit.
